Food and Nutrition Education

IMG_2318The Civitan Foundation is a proud partner of the Arizona Nutrition Network, as well as the Arizona Community Action Association. Our partnership with the AzNN allows us to provide adaptive food and nutrition education to individuals with special needs who attend camp or Our Night Out programs, as well as in local school districts and local DTA programs. We teach the importance of eating a balanced diet, fruit and veggies more matters, drinking low-fat and fat-free milk products, and encouraging our participants to exercise more!

Our partnership with ACAA allows us to conduct SNAP outreach, education and application assistance within our communities. We offer a variety of 4 and 6 weeks series of classes. If you would like a specialized nutrition education program for the developmentally disabled within your community center, school, group home, or DTA please contact us.

Civitan also partners with the Arizona Department of Education for the Summer Food Service Program. Civitan is a sponsor to provide meals to kids 18 and under during the summer months. We partner with community centers, teen centers, churches and schools. If you would like to get more information on that program or are interested in having a feeding site yourself please contact Carley Barry at cbarry@campcivitan.org.
